Interesting information, but I respectfully disagree. I've had blogs on Blogger for years and make more than $6,000 a month now with very little work involved. And, yes, as the above poster said, you don't understand what you can do with Blogger (much more than with WP, IMO).

Blogger DOES have categories, just like WordPress does and it's also easier to use. I've also found traffic finds my Blogger blogs much faster than it found my WordPress blogs (I finally switched my last two blogs from WP to Blogger last month) and, unlike WP, Blogger allows AdSense. With WP, you have to pay for it to be hosted somewhere else.

I've been with Blogger for more than six years now and you couldn't pay me to switch. Not when I make that much money from the blogs I run with them.

Well, I can tell you don't fully understand what's possible with Blogger! ;)

First I have multiple blogs with Blogger & Wordpress both...

With Blogger any money you generate is 100% profit.

I use blogger as a CMS site for (legal) downloads of files, for 2.5 years now. I never need to worry about upgrades, or being hacked. I have a Google PR-4, & rank #1 for a few good short-tail keywords.

I havn't posted on my Blogger blogs in about a month, one of the blogs brings in a steady stream of Adsense earnings (again 100% profit) $110 - 120 per month. That's not bad since the blog isn't updated much.

I bought all my christmas presents ($1,200) for my family last year from that single blog/earnings, 1-PC, 1-notebook, 1-netbook, & wireless router, & I'll use the same blog earnings again this christmas.

Why would anyone turn down free money, that's just crazy!

This is all a bit confusing to me, Blogger seems to just work, and work well. Do I need all this extra stuff, truly? What is the benefit. If the main aim of my blogger blog is to drive traffic to my main site what would wordpress do that would make it worth moving to them?

It’s not about blogger but getting full ownership of yor blog content and being able to transfer any credits in terms of Page Rank when moving your blog from one web hosting server to another. The the price of web hosting as low as $3.99/month, domain name registration at $9.95 and a free wordpress CMS I cannot see why any serious bloggers would give up her intellectual rights and brand ownership to someone else.

Blogger is good to start with, it gets you easily listed with google, if you dont want to go into technicalities and are not really good with website stuff, you can stay with Blogger.
But if you want to make your blog popular, and use the power of plugins to do that and more you've got to host your own blog using Blogging tools, at which Wordpress is the best.
It has huge community support, plugins, themes, everything you need.
