August 26th, 2010 — Blog Tips, SEO, Writing for Your Blog
You are probably already aware of how important link building is, and how important it can be to select the right meta tags, and to select frequently searched keywords that can be added to your website for the purpose of boosting search engine optimization or SEO, but are you also aware of how easy, inexpensive and effective it can be to use fresh and unique website content to drive an increase of traffic to your website through SEO? This is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to garner higher rankings in the most popular search engines like Google, MSN and Yahoo, and it requires little to no technical expertise at all.
If you add fresh content to your website regularly, you will be effectively increasing the visibility of your website by boosting your search engine rankings naturally and easily.
It is important that you avoid making the SEO mistake that so many other websites are making, which is that they are failing to add new, fresh and unique content to their websites on a regular basis. They spend hundreds of dollars or even thousands of dollars designing the look of their website, and then it fails in the search engines because they believe that once the website is running, their job has been completed. The truth is, if you stop updating your website once you have taken it live, you are doing something very wrong.
Why is this? This is because search engines love and feed on fresh and unique content. This is so true, in fact, that they literally troll the internet specifically looking for websites that have updated their contents. In the world of search engine optimization or SEO, content is the king.
Adding fresh content will help to significantly improve your search engine results, because search engines are literally constantly on the lookout for websites that have updated content, making sites with fresh and new content the best on the web. You can easily give these search engines what they are looking for simply by regularly updating the content that is on your website, adding informative articles and refreshing the content on other pages. Your content should never simply sit still or stagnant unless you don’t want people looking at it.
If you are unsure about writing the content yourself, you should have no trouble finding help online as there are plenty of proficient writers capable of writing niche specific content for your web pages, you simply need to know where to look and what to ask for. SEO writers are writers that specialize in search engine friendly website content creation, and they will deliver polished work that is web ready. They can write search engine friendly content for your website that is written specifically so that it can be found and indexed by search engines, and they will write website content that uses your keywords naturally and in a fitting manner in order to benefit your human readers as well. SEO writers are designed to write with your marketing goals in mind, so if you are afraid to craft your own content, do not be afraid to ask for some assistance.

Continued from part one.
While it is true that some websites are going to correct you if they think you meant something else, but this is only if a word you entered is more commonly spelled in some other manner. If the word isn’t suspected to be spelled wrong, how will the searcher benefit?
Here is something else to consider: Even when the search engine knows that a word is being misspelled, it is still going to return results. So it may be saying “Did you mean misspelled?” when you type in “mispelled”, but it is still going to display results with the misspelled word in place. So who knows if there’s a company, a person or a place out there that is spelling their name differently from yours? Your valuable visitors and traffic may be going somewhere else because they were looking for you but they mistakenly found someone else instead. The search engines are going to return results whether they perceive the word to be misspelled or not. Would you rather appear in the search engine results page when the keyword terms are spelled correctly, or incorrectly as well?
While many people using search engines may simply click on the top link and then continue to search using the right spelling of the word, there are also users that are probably not going to do this. They will choose, instead, to forge ahead, and to select whatever site appears first on the list regardless of whether or not the words are being spelled correctly. When all of your words in your content are spelled correctly, and you are only optimizing your content for the words that are spelled properly, then those users are never going to find your content because they only see the results that are spelled improperly. Is this a big deal? Is this going to affect you in any way? The most important question to ask you is this: How many visitors are you losing?
Anyone is capable of making a mistake: This truth has never become more evident than it has online. Casual surfers online are creating misspelled words all the time, to the point where businesses are learning how to capitalize on the most commonly misspelled terms and words. These companies are focusing on common misspellings in order to sweep up all of the traffic that would be accidently diverted away from them. They are enjoying a great increase in traffic as a result of this. Think about how quickly people are surfing online, and you will more than likely realize that there are likely to be misspellings occurring with every passing moment.
People are misspelling product names, city names, celebrity names and even common words, and these misspellings are happening constantly and all over the world. How can you ensure that they help you gain traffic rather than hurting your ability to attract people to your website?

Blogger is one of a number of different blogging platforms out there, but it is not the most ideal way to go for most blogging purposes. While there are benefits to using blogger when you are just starting out when it comes to blogging, using blogger is a mistake later on when you are trying to grow and develop your blog. Not only is blogger not ideal because it is a hosted blog that you do not have as much control over, but there are also a number of features that some blogging platforms offer that blogger hasn’t even come close to offering. The reason why blogging platforms like WordPress are considered to be ideal is because WordPress offers a number of extremely important features that Blogger isn’t making available yet.
First of all, you can set a WordPress blog up to automatically ping RSS and blog feed directories each and every time that you make a blog post. This is an extremely powerful blogging feature, at least if you are looking to generate a large amount of traffic for your blog right away. On top of this, because WordPress will be doing all of the pinging for you, you will be creating a lot of automatic backlinks to your blog almost instantaneously.
Think about how long it would normally take you to build a website, get the search engines to pay attention to it, earn backlinks from other pages to improve your search engine listings and to start earning traffic. Instead of having to do all of this work yourself, consider creating a WordPress blog that will do all of the work for you automatically.
Secondly, WordPress allows the use of categories, which are a really powerful way for you to improve the structure of your website, not only for human visitors but also for search engines as well. If the main topic of your website is widgets, for example, then you can create a category for blog posts about black widgets, another category for green widgets, and finally a category for orange widgets. Then when you add posts to your blog, you can decide which categories the post belongs to. Then your blog will automatically archive all of your posts not only by the month and the date but also by the category that the post most closely corresponds to.
If you have a visitor that is especially interested in widgets of a certain color then, they can easily find all of your posts on that particular subject rather than having to go through all of your archives to find a certain post.
WordPress and other similar blogging platforms offer a wide variety of additional options and features that Blogger simply cannot offer. While blogger is an excellent jumping off point for brand new blogs in certain situations, it is by no means a good answer on a long term basis.

Most businesses today recognize the power of blogging and are using it to their advantage. Everyone from the bigger companies to much smaller businesses are taking advantage of the free advertising and wonderful increase to website traffic that can be gained from successful blogging. There are some mistakes that you should avoid if you are blogging for your business. Unfortunately, these mistakes have been learned the hard way, but you can learn to avoid these mistakes before they happen to you.
The most common mistake that people who are Internet marketing make is only blogging when there is available time. Anyone who is working in Internet marketing knows that there is no extra time and blogging must be scheduled. If you want your blogging efforts to be successful, you must blog with consistency. The readers of your blog will soon become tired of waiting for the next time you have available time to update your blog and move on. This is lost traffic for you that may never return again.
Poorly written content on your blog makes you sound unprofessional. A blog is intended to establish you as an expert. How much of an expert can you be if the content of your blog is full of grammar and spelling mistakes? Take a little time to go over the content before you post it to make sure that the typos are all corrected and everything is grammatically correct. This will protect your image as an expert in your field.
Allow your blog readers to comment on your content. Many people are so afraid of negative comments that they simply don’t allow them at all. Blog readers love to have the ability to voice their own opinion on the content on your blog. If they find that they can’t comment, they will simply move on from your blog to one that allows them to make comments. You can always filter the comments and approve the ones that you want. At least your readers will have the option.
Your blog must link to your website or products that you are selling online. Why do you have a blog? Chances are it is to sell your product and increase the traffic to your website. However, if you don’t link to your website and finish the job, you are just wasting your time and effort.
Do not stuff your blog with keywords. They must flow through the content naturally or people will see the blog as nothing more than a piece of marketing material. Quality marketing does not appear to be marketing and a sales pitch should never sound like a sales pitch. The readers of your blog should be interested in the content and never feel as though they are being marketed to or you will lose them.
If you learn these mistakes and avoid them like the plague, you will increase the traffic to your website and gain the business that you want and need. It is very competitive online and avoiding these mistakes will avoid some very costly mistakes.
