There are several million WordPress blogs that you can find on the internet, but unfortunately the majority of them are not properly optimized for search engines. This article is going to touch on some SEO tips for bloggers using WordPress to host their blog, because with the right tips it is easy for you to make your WordPress blog more search engine friendly.
Here are some SEO tips for bloggers using WordPress:
Make sure that your WordPress blog’s permalink structure is set up to be optimized for SEO. This way, whenever you publish a blog, the URL for your blog post will be optimized for search engines. Every time you publish a blog post, the post will have a permanent URL which is known as a permalink. The permalink option by default is set to something less than optimal, but you can easily change it to better suit your SEO needs. The most ideal website link for your blog posts is http://www.yourdomain/category/name-of-post. This will ensure that your blog post’s category and its title are going to appear in your URL rather than simply a page number.
Make sure that you install the All-In-One SEO Pack, or a similar plugin, which will allow you to better customize your blog posts for the sake of SEO. The All-in-One SEO pack is a plugin that allows you to add in custom titles, custom meta descriptions and custom keyword tags for your blog posts and your home page.
Optimize each of your blog posts for a lower competition longtail keyword. Do a little bit of keyword research before you choose a keyword to write about. Visit the Google AdWords Keyword tool and find a longtail (more than 2 words) keyword that does not have a lot of competition. Choose something with fewer than 10,000 searches per month and write a blog post about this keyword. Use different keyword phrases for each of the blog posts that you write, and make sure that you use the keyword enough times that search engines will rank you for it.
Make use of social bookmarking services in order to bookmark each of the blog posts that you make, such as StumbleUpon and Digg for example. There are a number of other services that you can use as well including SocialMarker and OnlyWire that will make it easier for you to submit your blog site to a number of different bookmarking services all at the same time.
Optimize not only your blog posts, but also your home page as well. Your homepage is likely going to get more traffic than any other one of your blog posts, so make sure that you increase the number of visitors to your home page as well as your individual blog posts in order to achieve the best SEO results.

February 2nd, 2012 — Blog Tips, Blogging, Platform, RSS Feed, Social Networking/Bookmarking, Web Traffic
Many blog owners spend a good portion of their time trying to figure out how to generate traffic to their blog. This is especially true when it comes to a brand new blog that is not yet really rich in meaningful and effective content. Generating visitor traffic to your blog is an endeavor that is going to take some basic effort on your part. Thankfully due to modern technology, the task of attracting interested people to your blog is a lot easier now than in the past.
The most common online blogging platforms are WordPress and Blogger. Both have hosted blog solutions, but WordPress also has an open source solution for installing the WordPress platform onto your own domain name. If you put the following tips into practice, it is more than possible for you to begin attracting traffic to your blog as early as on the first day. Within 24 hours of creating a blog you can begin to generate traffic, and if the purpose of your blog is to sell a product, you could be making sales just as quickly.
1 – Every blog has an RSS feed.
By submitting your RSS feed to the most popular online feed services, you will be able to attract website traffic very quickly, especially if you are focusing your blog content on specific keywords that have lower competition in search engine ranks. All that you need to be able to do is to submit the URL for your feed to a wide range of different free services as soon as you actually have a live site to promote. Some of the most widely recognized feed sites are:
- Feedage.com
- Feedagg.com
- Feedraider.com
- Feedfury.com
- Feedsubmitter.com
- Feedest.com
- Search4rss.com
2 – Social bookmarking involves creating bookmarks for your blog.
Additionally social bookmarking is meant for displaying information about what your blog centers on and what it has to offer. It is important that you use social bookmarking responsibly rather than spamming these websites. Simply write a short post that explains in a little bit of detail why your site or product will interest the people that you want to visit it. There are a myriad of different social bookmarking websites out there, including but not limited to:
- Digg.com
- YahooBuzz
- Technorati.com
- Del.icio.us
- Propeller
- StumbleUpon
- Reddit
- Mixx
- Fark
- MyBlogLog
3 – Social networking, on the other hand, is a little different.
When you create an account on a social networking website, you put together a profile that allows you to connect with other people, creating powerful partnerships and even a fan following in the right circumstances. These networks and relationships will facilitate the capability for you to promote your sites and protects, although much more subtlety than through other sources. Here are a few of the most popular social networking websites:
- FaceBook
- MySpace
- Classmates Online
- MSN Groups
- Yahoo Groups
- Xanga

Keyword analysis is an important part of search engine optimization or SEO, because your keywords will play a vital role in numerous different facets of your website design, creation and ongoing development. Before going into the details about what keyword analysis is, you should first understand a little bit about the SEO process, or how it is that SEO works. The main steps that are involved in the search engine optimization process are to map out a keyword strategy, to optimize the structure of the website, to develop the optimized content and web pages, to launch the link building and advertising or promotional campaign, to analyze the results, and then to refine those results to create even better results.
You should understand at this point that the first step in any good SEO campaign is the keyword analysis step, as this helps to map out what your plans are for the entire search engine optimization campaign. You want to analyze your keywords and then map them out in relation to your website theme and website content. There are a number of different tools available on the internet that will make this process infinitely easier, and Google offers several for you to choose from. Some keyword analysis tools cost more than others, so make sure that you shop around and choose an answer that will suit you not only in capabilities but also in price as well.
You can start off by using free tools for keyword analyzation on your website. Two of the best tools to begin with for this purpose are the external keyword tool from Google, and the free Word Tracker tool. Any time that you are planning a new website you should use these tools to come up with a main keyword phrase that represents the entire theme of your website, and then you should break it down into sub keywords and keyword phrases that come with less competition attached to them. This is possible with the external keyword tool from Google. When you load up the web application, you just have to enter your main keyword phrase into the box and click a button and you will get a whole host of different keyword ideas that you can play around with.
You should be brainstorming in order to find out what keywords and keyword phrases best suit the main keyword phrase for your website, coming up with a sizable list in the process. Next you should discover the core keywords that relate the most closely to the theme of your website. Next you are going to want to create a cluster of keywords, using some low profile keywords to dilute them. Finally, you should be adding this cluster in to your articles and web pages in order to improve the keyword ranking for your web site and in order to improve the search engine optimization for each individual web page.

Are you already participating in the creation of a blog? If you are not out there blogging already, then you are definitely missing out on a truly booming market, not to mention what is essentially one of the latest and greatest fads on the internet. Today it seems as if everyone is blogging these days. If your parents or grand parents have a computer, they may even be blogging! Blogging is not just about being fun anymore, but instead it has become a serious business that really seems to be taking off. There are people out there who are making a living blogging full time simply by writing in a blog every day. Can you imagine spending a little bit of time blogging online and making enough money to survive on?
There are basically two different types of blogging: Regular blogging and niche blogging. Niche blogging is where the real money is right now. If you can learn how niche blogging functions, then you can make money online just like everyone else. Here is how niche blogging works: First you do some research to find out what types of niches are becoming popular. Then you create a blog on one of these niche topics. Then you find affiliate products that relate to the blog that you are writing in. Now you write a blog entry every single day. Market your blog as much as you possibly can, and collect the money when it begins to roll in. That sounds fairly simple, does it not?
Once you get the hang of things, they definitely are simple – But starting out at the beginning takes a little bit more work, and it will take some thought and some serious research. First you need to research your niche and figure out what you should be blogging about. Your niche should be unique, but it should also meet a need or supply a solution to a problem that will have people looking for you. Your blog should be unique even if your niche is not completely unique – So find a unique solution, unique information or something else that makes you special, and begin blogging. It is also important to find keywords that people will be using to find your niche – The keyword research part of the process should take a while, and a lot of thought, but the more work you put into the process, the more that it will pay off in the end. If you want to compete with other bloggers operating within your niche, then you need to be using keywords effectively because it makes all the difference.
If you are having trouble coming up with a niche, try to find something that interests you and go from there. Think of a problem that you have, and find a solution. Now market that solution to the other people in the world who have the same problem and you have an instant niche. Blog about it every day, and your blog truly can become a source of income for you.

Analyze what brings readers to your blog, and then find a way to build upon that.
When I speak with owners of medium sized blogs, the first thing I recommend highly to them is to put aside time to analyze their blogs current performance, with focus on the blogs successes and strengths. While there is plenty to say in favor of identifying a blogs weakness so that it can be improved, I feel that bloggers waste too much of their time working on fixing the negatives that they end up not building on what success they have. Here is a success secret that I have seen in a good number of successful bloggers.
They do not do absolutely everything well, but the things that they are able to do well are the things that they continue to do over and over again, and this is one of the biggest keys to a strong blog.
There are a lot of blogs that exemplify this concept, ranging from I Can Has Cheezburger to Cake Wrecks and back again. These bloggers found their niche, settled down into it comfortably, and now they are reaping the benefits of focusing on the things that they do well rather than trying to over extend them selves and their blogs.
It is easy to go on and on when it comes to the most successful blogs and what allows them to become that way. They manage to identify something that is working for them, and they repeat it again and again for great success. This does not necessarily mean that they are repeating or regurgitating the same content over and over – They simply take the same formula and they apply it over and over as a key to their success.
So what have you found capable of working on your blog? How can you take that success formula and do it again, or how can you find ways to improve upon it?
Let us do a little bit of analysis to see where you’re at. Here are a few questions that you are going to want to ponder so that you can identify the points of energy within your blog that could potentially be worth expanding on:
Questions Relating to Content
- Which of your posts have attracted the most amount of traffic to them?
- Which of your posts have garnered the largest amount of comments?
- Which of your posts have garnered the largest number of links from other websites and blogs?
- Which of your posts seemed to perform better than other posts on social networking and social media websites?

October 30th, 2011 — Blog Tips, Blogging, Subject/Topic, Writing for Your Blog
There are a number of different solutions that can be used by successful bloggers in order to bring attention to their posts, simply by using titles effectively. There is no real right or wrong answer when it comes to writing out a good title for your blog, and choosing a good title is a little bit subjective if you think about it. Having said this, however, there are a few tips that can help you improve the quality of your blog titles in order to appeal to search engines and your readers.
1 – Keep things simplistic.
Shorter titles are preferred for search engines, and they are also best for readers. If you can possibly keep your title below 40 characters, you will more than likely have the best results. Breaking this rule can draw attention to your blog, but it is not always the best way to go.
2 – Strive to grab your reader’s attention.
Good titles are largely what set your posts apart from the other clutter around them, drawing your readers in by any necessary means. There are a lot of ways that you can grab attention including writing shocking titles, titles with big claims, controversial titles or even confusing titles. Grabbing attention is a good way to write a useful title.
3 – Make every title meet a need.
Readers online are looking to have problems solved and needs met. Give them titles that show them that you have a solution to their need or problem, and your blog posts absolutely will attract an increase in information.
4 – Use descriptive words.
Some readers may like cryptic and confusing titles, but most of your readers are going to prefer descriptive ones that get straight to the point. Make sure that your titles describe exactly what is in the body of your post. Describing your titles well when writing about your blog entries is another great way to make the following tip easier:
5 – Fit keywords in when possible.
Keywords are important if you want your titles to contribute to your SEO process. This may be a little challenging when trying to keep your titles short and sweet, but incorporating a keyword into your title is vital if you want SEO to play a part in your blogging endeavor. Pick a few keywords that are vital to the concept of your blog, and fit them in as often as you can. This will have a profound impact on your ability to bring traffic to your blog.
6 – Take your time when choosing titles.
You don’t really need to rush when writing out your titles for your blogs. Take as much time as you take writing the actual blog itself, because writing a good title is about more than just slapping something random on without paying much attention to the message. Take your time when you’re choosing your blog titles, and your readers will surely take notice.

4 – To reiterate… Some of your blog posts are going to be more popular than others. Once you recognize which blog posts these are, keep them from being buried by finding a way to highlight them. You may have a popular posts section in the sidebar of your blog, for example, keeping these specific blog posts from getting lost in the shuffle. Another option is to have a popular articles section in your sidebar where you list your most popular blog posts so that readers can continue to find them. You can also tag or categorize blog posts to reflect their popularity so readers can go back and easily find them later.
5 – Do not make a blog banner that is big or unwieldy. The banner is the top portion of your blog, spanning across from right to left. There is a lot of information that you can put here, like a graphic, the name of your blog or even your picture. If your blog banner is too big, and someone who is reading your blog has to scroll down in order to find your content, then its time to make a change. Your blog banner and how readable your content is are two details that will make or break your blog when people visit for the first time.
6 – Make sure that your blog is visually appealing. If you cannot come up with a design that screams “visual appeal!”, at least make sure that your blog is not ugly. You should avoid bright colors or seriously contrasting colors, and you should stick to fonts that are reasonable, such as Arial and Times New Roman. If you are looking for something with a little bit of flair, Calibri is a good choice as well. Once you are done, let a professional designer look your blog over and give you feedback before you start taking things live, because what looks okay to you may not look okay to the rest of the world.
7 – Get rid of anything that isn’t serving a purpose. If you have random widgets and other junk in your blog sidebars and they’re not serving any real purpose, get rid of them. Blogs can become too busy really quickly, and one, two or three sidebars can quickly become too much. Go through every widget and remove the ones that aren’t benefiting you or your readers in some way. Cut down on the clutter, because visual appeal and good blog design are your friends when it comes to attracting readers to your following.
* Keep in mind that not only is empty space allowable, but it can also serve a great purpose because it helps your readers focus on what truly is important: Your content. These concepts are really simple but they pack a punch when it comes to delivering the content your readers want without forcing them to be bogged down by poor blog design.

Blog Improvement Tip #3 – Pay someone to help you with a custom design.
Stepping things up just a bit from the previous tip, you may also want to consider paying a blog theme designer to develop a unique, customized theme just for your website or blog, or if you are proficient enough you can design your own blog. You can find images on Flickr that are shared under creative commons, or you can spend a few dollars buying high quality images from places like Stock Xpert and iStock Photo to add images that are relevant to the subject of your blog posts to all of the posts that you make.
Blog Improvement Tip #6 – Change the color scheme of your blog.
