Great point Stephen! Other social media sites definitely cash in on headlines.

I agree with both. Twitter is all the headline you use. The headline is also important on sites like reddit, technorati and digg.

The headline is what brings the reader to you - it's no different than a headline in a newspaper or a magazine.

You, bore people? Piffle! lol All great points! I agree with everything you said.

There's always a shortage of better useful content. It's a matter of figuring what makes good content and how to share it -- blog or twitter -- or both?

Yes - tough to be a comedian in 140 characters, but one thing Twitter is really good for is punch lines and headlines if you can figure out how to wield them. Takes skill. ;)

I would have argued in favor of blogging back in the day (that day being roughly three months ago) but then my presence was actually requested on Twitter (not sure if that person has been shot yet) and now I do both. The real challenge for me is not the balance between Twitter and blogging but the balance of content (something for others to enjoy, etc.) versus self-promotion (something for me to enjoy).

Content is harder to do on Twitter -- it's hard to be oh-so-amusing in 140 characters -- but when it works, it seems like a successful high wire act. Blogging allows for more content, but more content is not the same as better content.

Ultimately, better content is always the goal. Clearly I have things I want to share, but I don't actually want to bore people! And it's just as easy to bore people on Twitter as it is to bore them on a blog. It just happens faster.
