It's a great idea to submit your blog to directories. Often, that's how someone hears about your blog in the first place. The key is relevancy. Being in the right directories will determine the traffic that you get.

Increasing traffic to a blog is very similar to a website, with just some minor differences. A website is often far larger than a blog, and more often than not it offers an array of products or services in addition to information. Whereas a blog is mostly full of informative content. NOW, these that you mentioned are just three of the long list of things people can do to help increase traffic to their site or blog. One of the most common is writing articles or mini article teasers to distribute in places like a squidoo lens among others. Not to mention that blog owners can also purchase email marketing to help promote their blog. You see the options are many!!!

These are great recommendations. I do exactly the same things when I post a new article on my blog. One thing that has also worked for me is posting a catchy teaser on Twitter; that has delivered decent traffic. There are many other things that can be done as well, but I always tell people it is trial and error. Thanks for the post.
