100% agree with what you have posted and totally agree with what LJMartina and Chandan said but I am not sure if the blog commenting needs to be related to the content of the site which is looking for back links. I have seen a lot of sites that get rank well without having any valuable back links. That's why people buy / develop software which is creating those comments on auto pilot. I personally hope that there will be a change in search engine’s algorithms soon! and I hope I can pass moderation on this site!

Yes, leaving blog comments does increase traffic, and it's a great way to build backlinks to your site, but it's very easy to have your comment rejected as spam. There are too many programs out now that leave a thousand comments an hour just to build backlinks, and blog owners know this. It's best to read the post first, then leave an honest comment that won't be rejected..

Yes, blog comments increase traffic but the volume depends on quality but not quantity. Submitting a comment to a post camouflaged with a 'link' of your website/blog helps if you are honest and relevant. Your comment should not be too short like ' I agree, wow, great post, keep up good work etc etc.' These are now standard words of comment spammers who have hidden motive to increase traffic.

If you are honest and your comment provides insights, you can achieve your end objective but in a decent way!

Based on the conventional wisdom I've seen to date and my own blogging experience I can tell that on-topic inline links in blogs pages with good PR and good anchor text work very well. Your three steps in the article above are good.

Great tips and I also found that blog commenting helps so many ways. Most important part is getting backlinks from related content and it helps to increase traffic.

Thanks for sharing nice tips.
