I have seen that only by commenting on relevant Blogs and saying something meaningful you will get returning traffic to your site.

Yep, being active and participating within the community, leaving comments, linking back when you use quotes and information etc are good tips.

Backlinks will increase search engine rankings = more traffic = more blog readers/money/followers/leads/etc
